On December 5, 2023, Yulia Seredina, a lecturer at the Department of Linguistics, held an open lesson on the topic of “Translation of phraseological units” for 3rd year students of this field. 

By understanding figurative language, students can better understand texts with unusual word meanings. In the lesson, they studied figurative language, focusing on the direct rather than figurative meaning of idioms. Through reading aloud, teacher modeling, and interactive classes, students improved their understanding of figurative language. They worked in groups, watched videos and translated idioms from English into Russian. We express our gratitude to our lecturer for the lesson!
